Andrew Parkes reviews Attica
Restaurant of the month
A hidden treasure

What a fantastic start to the New Year. Hidden away a little, as the name would suggest, Attica is a real gem of a restaurant sitting resplendently above
Orpington high street. Promoting itself as the complete dining experience, I really believe that all-round this is one of the best restaurants I have had the
pleasure to visit. Everything about Attica is superbly presented-from the moment you make your booking to the moment you are handed your coat, the staff
are simply delightful. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and presented and you are guaranteed the warmest possible welcome. Offering the very
best quality modern European cuisine, the menu is interesting without being over-complicated and there is enough variety to suit anyone's taste.

As I say Attica's entrance is not overly obvious from the high street but it's certainly worth searching out and if you are planning a visit I'd do it sooner rather
than later because it's popularity is only going to grow. For my first visit I selected deep fried brie which was beautifully presented on a bed of rocket with
a raspberry coulis. My Partner chose the funghi al forno, which having insisted that I try it, I can confirm was equally good. For our main courses we chose fresh
sea bass and lamb shank respectively. They were both cooked to perfection, served with vegetables that were fresh and tasty and looked fantastic.
The glasses of house red and white were a perfect accompaniment to our meals and I even managed to find room for the chocolate fudge cake.
I simply cannot praise Attica highly enough. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented, the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful.
Taking a moment to congratulate the chef before I left, I was equally impressed by the kitchen- spotless, well organised and efficient. Attica has now been
open for 18 months and due to it's unostentatious entrance it has, until fairly recently remained something of a well-kept secret. Judging by the number of diners
it is now welcoming  this is changing fast. Take my advice and make sure you are one of the lucky few to experience Attica's hidden qualities.
